You Are Never Too Cool for a Toddler

icanrelate.info

With my husband in the fire house, we have a lot of single men, and women around us who have no children and have rarely had any experiences with kids other than younger siblings.

There are often a plethora of questions surrounding our kids… parenting, rules, and simply how to deal with situations whether they involve a complex toddler question or just a snack.

When I was on Pinterest one night I came across this quote picture which originally came from icanrelate.info and I laughed so hard because it was so accurate and spot on in our lives.  Whether it is one of the fellas from the fire house, or just my mother who gets down on the kids level and really plays with them like my husband and I do.

Yes, my mother is so bad ass she even hops onto toddler toy Tonka trucks and rides around the basement with the boys.  You cannot ask for a better grandmother ever.  She is probably going to kill me for sharing this picture, but it is incredibly heart melting, and hysterical at the same time.

Grandma Ole

Rainy days at grandma’s house are the best right?

But back to my point… when it comes to playing with a toddler, it is a whole world of make believe we haven’t lived in since we were toddlers ourselves. But it is so incredibly important for us as adults around these kids, especially if you are their parent to help channel your imagination and creative side to really help shape their minds for the future.

Play telephone calls, fake fire department emergencies, riding pretend motorcycles… you name it and we are doing it on a daily basis.

I will never be a true grown up as long as there are little kids in my house though. I get on their level to enjoy reliving my own childhood through them… do you do the same?
