After extensive research I’ve rounded up the spookiest haunted houses in America and I have to say, just writing this post has given me the creeps. Some of the experiences available at these attractions are horrific and just plain scary.

Call me a wuss if you must, but I don’t think I could handle the visuals or the real-life scares. There are many people who are the exact opposite, as one of these houses is actually one of the most visited attractions in the United States! Hundreds of thousands have visited these haunted dwellings and many have been featured in the media as the scariest haunted houses in the country.

  • Bates Motel 2 of 16

    Locatd in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is the infamous Bates Motel. The Haunted Hayride is one of the main attractions here and is sure to set you on edge thanks to the setting. You'll be taken through a dark 200-year-old forest full of overgrown trees.

    They claim to be Houston's only haunted house with real ghosts and considering that they're located next to Houston's oldest graveyard, they could be right…
