7 Last-Minute Travel Deals for President’s Day Weekend

Last night at approximately 5 p.m., my husband and I decided that we would get away for one night on Valentine’s Day — yes tomorrow — and I just booked the hotel this morning thanks to several last-minute travel deals. It’s been 11 months since we had the opportunity to get away as a couple. Just us, no kids. To say I’m excited would be the understatement of the year! With three kids and two at-home businesses on the go, things can get pretty stressful in our household, so finding that alone time to talk and reconnect usually happens in the late evening when everyone’s asleep.

After our night away, it’s family time! In various provinces in Canada, we have a long weekend coming up thanks to “Family Day,” an official holiday which falls on Monday (President’s Day for the United States). Many families are taking advantage of the extended weekend and getting away for a couple of nights with their kids. I’ve included a few deals here that can be used for both Valentine’s Day and President’s Day/Family Day! Some of these deals even go beyond this weekend as long as you book during the course of it!

Groupon Getaways are a great source for last minute travel deals. And yes — these are really good deals! You pay for the room upfront and then print out the Groupon before you leave, present it to the front desk and boom! Done!

Some of my favorite Groupon Getaway deals running right now include:

    • 4-Star Hilton with Views of Niagara Falls (59 percent off at $109)
    • Wyndham San Antonio Riverwalk (40 percent off from $89 a night)
    • Ramada Gateway Hotel (25 percent off from $41 a night)

This offer just appeared in my inbox and it's a great one! If you download the free Hotels.com app and make your booking through the app, you can use coupon code MOB25FEBCA to save $25 off your booking of $200 or more on your mobile phone and tablet.

This applies to all hotels! Coupon valid for bookings made of $200 or more before 11:59 PM CT on February 28, 2014 and travel between February 1, 2014 to April 30, 2014. Bookings aren't eligible for Welcome Rewards® nights when you use this discount coupon. Not valid on certain hotels.

  • Orbitz Hotel Offer 3 of 7

I just took advantage of this offer last week for an upcoming trip to Disneyland, as we decided to stay a couple of extra nights. I generally don't use Orbitz to book hotels or flights as I've always found rates much lower through other travel sites, but this one beat out all rates — including booking directly! You can save an extra 15 percent off their best hotel deals by using promo code PACKUP.

This particular offer ends very soon; you must book by 11:59 PM CST on February 16, 2014 for travel by June 30, 2014.

I scored tickets for an upcoming trip at 60 percent less than what I would have paid through Air Canada or WestJet with this offer! Southwest Airlines has a new offer every Tuesday, but they're currently running a longer promotion that ends today, so you've got to act fast.

Book by today for travel through May 21, 2014 and save big! Some one-way tickets are running at $77 each. Amazing! If you happen to miss this offer, be sure to check their site every Tuesday afternoon as Southwest's ticket prices tend to drop then.

Did you know that Costco offers travel deals? It's true! Some of them are really great! They are running a few promotions right now for Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Celebrity Cruise Lines, various hotel chains, and Royal Caribbean. A 7-night cruise aboard the Jewel of the Seas can be booked for $514 per person and includes a $400 shipboard credit bonus! The offer must be booked by February 28, 2014 and is valid for sailings all year from March 1, 2014 and on.

And now, after all of the offers I've just shown you, let me introduce you to eBates. This service can be combined with most of the offers shown above. How does it work? Well, you essentially get paid by signing into their website before making a booking or a purchase. Depending on which company you use to make your booking, you can receive up to 10 percent cash back on your purchases/bookings. Pretty sweet, don't you think?

Hotels.com, Orbitz, Expedia, Hotwire, InterContinental, American Airlines, Marriott Hotels and National Car Rental are just a few of the many companies that work with eBates. If you live in Canada, the same applies, however you must login through eBates.ca.
