New Travel Blogger: Introducing Jacinda of Prudent Baby

Hi there, I’m Jacinda! When I’m not chasing three kids age 2-5 in Texas, and running Prudent Baby with my BFF Jaime, I’m taking every opportunity to travel the globe and the good old USA. My family isn’t quite to the point where traveling with the little ones is relaxing, in fact it’s a ton of work, so we love to find spots that offer lots of activities for the kiddos. Always feel free to send recommendations on that front. No, really, please send them.

Every so often I also manage to get away with my husband, my friends or my personal favorite, myself ( just. kidding.) I do love traveling solo though, since searching out inspiration for my creative endeavors is quite often the highlight of any trip.

The travel bug hit me early and hard. With a globetrotting dad, I drooled over the exotic postcards he would send from all over the world and longed to visit the foreign destinations myself some day. I haven’t been to many places (my “travel to-do” list is much longer than my “done that” list) but I’m excited to add new travel experiences each year and share them here with you here on Babble Travel.

The most luxurious trip I've taken was to Vietnam for my honeymoon. We went all out at the stunning Six Senses Ninh Van Bay which still inspires my love of rustic modern decor.

Last Summer Jaime and I took the trip of a lifetime to Florence and Umbria for our friend Kate's beautiful wedding. After a few days of sightseeing, we relaxed at the luxurious Palazzo Terranova, where we sipped prosecco, dipped our toes in the pool and I painted wildflowers. This might be my most favorite way to spend a day ever.

    Tour of Mexico
It seems crazy with how many times my own kids have flown by age 5 but my first flight was at age 11 on a trip to Mexico with my dad. I couldn't wait to get to the last stop, Acapulco, to ride in a pink Jeep, but I found that once I had, it paled in comparison to the rich experience of Mexico City, Puebla, Oaxaca, and Puerto Angel.

    Mazatlan, Mexico
Two years ago I made it back to Mexico for a wonderful trip to Mazatlan where I gorged on seafood, bartered for beautiful hand embroidered dresses, and all-inclusived (is that a word? It should be).

Speaking of All-Inclusive(d.) Rick and I took our first kid-free trip last Summer to Club Med Sandpiper Bay. My mother still has post-traumatic stress from watching the kids.

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is not only an excuse to visit beautiful Scotland, it's an opportunity to checkout an insane amount of world class theater. This was my first time in Europe and, yup, I tried the haggis.

Did any of you do Spring Break in College? But did you go with your dad? Yup, my dad and I went to Negril, Jamaica for Spring Break. I kept him in line. He paid for the meals. It was a good arrangement.

    Southwest Road Trip
Last Summer we loaded up the Toyota Sienna and explored the Southwest through New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah. We loved this trip, and not just because we got to see Jaime and then dance at a wedding. Oh man, this trip was so great that I'll do a whole post on it soon. This photo was from White Sands, NM. Go there.

Since we have only lived in Texas for 4 years, there is still so much of it I haven't seen. Last Spring I packed up all three kids and spent a long weekend at Barton Creek Resort and Spa. I took advantage of the kids club and got an amazing massage, but the most memorable part was a hike that we took on their beautiful woodsy trail. Exploring in the woods isn't something we get to do often in Texas so it was super fun for all of us.

    Emerald Coast, Florida
As a Rhode Island girl turned California girl turned Texas Girl, I really miss the ocean. Here in Texas, many folks head to the gulf coast of Alabama and Florida for beach vacations. I didn't have high expectations but we adored this family trip. The water was clear and beautiful, the cottages were plentiful and family friendly and there was so many fun things to do.

    The Ocean State
This Summer, among other adventures, we are planning an epic 2 week trip to the homeland! Rhode Island that is. There will be so many lobsters eaten, it's going to be glutenous. The little cousins will play, the sisters will drink wine overlooking the sailboats, the college BFF's will have hilarious mud fights in the creek, and we will, no doubt, take over the blueberry fields.
Here are some photos of our last trip before Gordon was born (gulp, sorry mom) From Prudent Baby.

Jaime and I are thrilled to join Babble Travel on this adventure! Stay tuned!
