We take photographs, post pictures instantly through Instagram with short descriptions, and create albums on Facebook — which is all well and good — but what about our stories? I’ve been writing in journals since I was seven, and I’m ashamed to say that although I do keep a journal, I don’t write on those pages as often as I used to and yet, it’s those very journals that hold all the stories that I’ve since forgotten.
I have a travel journal that I kept during a family road trip when I was seven. It’s full of fun tidbits that I found interesting at the time, and I’m so grateful to have it, both for myself and to share with my own children. I like to think of journaling as my own secret wardrobes that I can venture into when the mood strikes, taking me into different countries and cities, both an escape and a trip down memory lane.
Travel journaling is also a great idea for children as it helps them to remember their experiences and exercises their writing skills.
With the upcoming travel season, I thought it would be fun to round up 7 of my favourite travel journals for adults and children!
This may be my favorite journal for children of all time! What makes it so special? The book is sectioned off into topics such as Making Plans, First Impressions, Food & Restaurants, Museums & Galleries, Best Day/ Worst Day and more! It even includes a pocket for momentos!
There's nothing I like better than a good Moleskine journal! This version in particular is designed for your travels and features 5 themed sections to fill in and 5 tabbed sections to personalize. 202 adhesive labels are included to make personalizing even more efficient.
