Traveling In Child Mode ~ Introduction To Babble’s New Travel Blogger

Nadia Carriere Child ModeHello everyone! My name is Nadia Carriere and I’m thrilled to be contributing to Babble Travel. Travel is a passion of mine – specifically family travel as I have three children ages 6, 4 and 18 months. My husband and I own a business in the tourism industry and have been working in the travel business for over 15 years now so I come from both the innkeeper side of things as well as the travel writer side. It gives you an interesting perspective as when we are on a trip we can always relate to the hotel management ;).

As a mom who spends hours upon hours researching ‘the best of the best’, I decided to launch Child Mode in 2010 as a way to share information on the family travel industry as well as luxury and quality fashions and gear for families. It’s actually a play on words as the definition of mode means both “a prevailing fashion or style” and “a particular form or variety of something”. As parents we are always in the ‘child mode’ and our travel plans have to reflect that.

2012 was a very big year for us travel wise! Here is a look at 14 of those trips. nggallery template=’carousel’ id=’130826′

  • St. Thomas 1 of 14
    St. Thomas
The crystal clear waters of Coki Beach in St. Thomas were perfect for snorkeling and it was quite calm making it ideal for kids.
  • Toronto 2 of 14
    Toronto
We visit Toronto several times a year for both business and pleasure. It's a great spot for families! This here is the hand-hewn stainless steel sculpture, 'Rising,' by contemporary artist Zhang Hua. It stands in front of the Shangri-La hotel.
  • Miami 3 of 14
    Miami
We visited Miami twice in 2012 and absolutely loved it! The Latin vibe can be felt throughout the city and it's the complete opposite of Orlando.
  • Cruising 4 of 14
    Cruising
The Carnival Breeze is the newest ship to join Carnival Cruise Line's fleet. We sailed away on an 8 day Caribbean cruise as part of a media trip. One of the best trips of 2012!
  • Tortola 5 of 14
    Tortola
If you ever visit Tortola, you must take the ferry ride to Virgin Gorda. We took the kids to "The Baths" on the southern end of the island which shows evidence of the island's volcanic origins (as you can see by the large boulders).
  • Mackinac Island 6 of 14
    Mackinac Island
This was our third visit to Mackinac Island and certainly not our last! Home to the famed Grand Hotel, this historic island is the gem of Michigan.
  • Colorado 7 of 14
    Colorado
My son and I made the trek to Keystone, Colorado in June for a conference. The scenery was breathtaking!
  • New York City 8 of 14
    New York City
Oh NYC, how I love thee! We made 3 trips to the Big Apple last year and still have just skimmed the surface on what it has to offer.
  • Manitoulin Island 9 of 14
    Manitoulin Island
Located in Ontario, Canada, Manitoulin Island is a popular vacation spot in Ontario. It also happens to be our favorite camping spot.
  • Muskoka 10 of 14
    Muskoka
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have a cottage here as do many other celebrities. Muskoka, Ontario is 'where it's at" in the summer. Cleveland's House is a home-away-from-home and one of our favorite resorts in that area.
  • Atlantis 11 of 14
    Atlantis
Nassau, Bahamas has so much to offer, but I think most would agree that the Atlantis Resort is one of the most popular attractions for families. The DIG is a MUST visit!
  • Antigua 12 of 14
    Antigua
This photo was taken just as we pulled up into the port of Antigua. There are plenty of beaches on the island, however Long Bay Beach was our favorite.
  • Walt Disney World 13 of 14
    Walt Disney World
The magic and memories happen at Disney World and last year we had a peek at some of their new additions.
  • Great Wolf Lodge 14 of 14
    Great Wolf Lodge
This resort is perfect for that quick weekend getaway and they have several locations across the USA and Canada. Great Wolf Lodge is fabulous for children and our girls adored the Scooops Spa!
