I’ve flown with WestJet numerous times and all my family members and friends who fly with the airline are with me when I say that it may very well be the friendliest airline in Canada. The overall kindness and excellent service you receive on board is nothing short of excellent. My love for WestJet was ignited last week after they released their Christmas Miracle video, which has since gone viral. Before you click over, grab a box of Kleenex – you’ll need it!
It would only make sense that the happiest airline would partner with the Most Magical Place On Earth – right? WestJet and Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Canada revealed their latest collaboration a couple of weeks ago – a custom-painted Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 series aircraft featuring Sorcerer Mickey dubbed “The Magic Plane!” The new aircraft performed its inaugural flight on December 3, 2013 from Calgary to Orlando, Florida. It will continue flying through WestJet’s domestic, trans-border and international network.
The Magic Plane took a team of 26 people working around the clock for 24 days in order to paint both sides of the plane, which feature mirror images of Sorcerer Mickey. They are all the same except for one detail (they won’t tell us what it is, it’s up to the guests to find out!)
When you fly on the Magic Plane, you’ll be treated to cookies that are shaped like Disney characters. Another fun fact – over the next five years, the Magic Plane will fly more than 400,000 guests a total of nearly eight million kilometres.
Fingers crossed that our next flight on WestJet to Walt Disney World will be on the Magic Plane!
