Where Can You Find a Good Old-Fashioned Haircut? Disney World Of Course!Nadia Carriere
It is most definitely not the first thing that come to mind when you think of Walt Disney World Resort, but turns out, this mega popular family destination is the perfect place to find a good old-fashioned hair cut and the perfect place for your little one’s first cut! The Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street, U.S.A. is a popular spot that performs between 350 and 400 services a week! They are in close proximity to the Emporium gift shop (the one with the candy-striped pole outside) and takes their customers back in time with their old-fashioned shop and quaint service.
Fun Fact: Many of the antiques you’ll find in-shop such as he Western Electric phone box and old fashioned register (dates back to 1912) are still in service!
When you walk in you’ll notice talcum powders and hair tonics lining the dark burgundy shelves. This combined with the live Dapper Dans barbershop quartet make for quite the experience. The quartet stroll by daily, singing melodious tunes in perfect harmony and entertaining guests with their humorous ways.
The “First Haircuts” are my favorite and if I had known before I visited WDW in April, I would have treated my son to one. This package is priced at $18 and includes all sorts of surprises such as your child’s very own “My 1st Haircut” set of Mouse Ears and certificate, pixie dust, bubbles and tickers. O
Kids cuts for children ages 12 and under, are priced at $15, while adults run at $19. Kids can also get treated to colored hair gel, which costs $7.50.
Harmony Barber Shop is only available to Disney resort guests or anyone who has a dining reservation at the parks, otherwise they serve on a first-come, first-serve basis.
