When I went into Walgreens to get my flu shot, I was waiting for the person to administer the shot and was surprised by how many people stood in line to ask the pharmacist questions. Before I only thought to ask the pharmacist questions about the medicines I picked up but nope, these people were listing their symptoms and asking for medicine recommendations. The pharmacist would then take the the person over to the area where the over-the-counter version of the medicine was shelved. I don't know if this was just a fluke but if you don't think you have a serious ailment simply talking to the pharmacist would be a good way to save money.

Buy a few different kinds of generic brand medicines or brand-names when on sale to keep in the medicine cabinet for convenience when you do come down with something.

You have several options outside of your doctor's office to get the shot including at your neighborhood drug store or even through your employer. Paying a small fee for the shot can help prevent a major case of the flu that can keep you down and out for weeks at a time.
