13 No Campfire Needed S’mores Recipes

August 10th is National S’mores Day. Let’s hear it for the ooey gooey, chocolatey treat that is enjoyed by those from 1 to 100!!

It’s believed that the first official s’mores recipe was printed in a Girl Scout Recipe Book in 1927, but that the recipe has been around far longer than that.

And in case you were wondering about the name s’mores, it’s because you always want “some more.”

I can’t remember my very first s’more, but I do remember the first time I roasted a marshmallow on a stick that I’d found myself. It was at girl scout camp, and I was probably 9 years old. We were tasked with finding sticks long enough to reach over the campfire without burning ourselves, and we giggled as we hunted and searched, our cries of joy bouncing through the forest.

I remember the rush of excitement racing through my veins as I held my stick over the fire and turned it slowly, trying to achieve that perfect dark golden brown crust and then rushing to get the molten lava marshmallow sandwiched between the chocolate and graham crackers before it fell off the stick. I remember the hot, melted, sticky, goodness — there’s no other texture or flavor experience quite like a freshly roasted s’more.

Traditional s’mores consist of a chocolate bar, two graham crackers and a toasted marshmallow. And while there’s nothing wrong with that, I’ve found 13 s’mores recipes from some of my favorite food bloggers that are anything but the norm.

From liquor-infused marshmallows to no bake s’mores cheesecakes, you’ll find inspiration here to get you jumping up to celebrate National S’mores Day on August 10th, and every other day.
