Last Minute Teacher Appreciation Week Gift Ideas

May 5th to May 9th is Teacher Appreciation week down here in Texas, and our school PTA is gearing up for supporting and thanking our teachers for all they do in a big way.

They have a “theme” for each day – it’s not a dress up theme, or a party theme, rather a suggestion theme for goodies for the teachers.

  • Sunday, May 4th:  they invite students and parents to bring their sidewalk chalk up to the school and decorate the teacher’s lot with drawings and words of gratitude.
  • Monday, May 5th: Thanks for helping us bloom: Gift ideas are anything floral – flower pens, flower jewelry, flower stationary, potpourri even!
  • Tuesday, May 6th: Thanks for quenching our thirst for knowledge: Drink Day!  Gift ideas include sodas, gift cards to coffee houses, straws and cups, packets of lemonade and water bottles etc…
  • Wednesday, May 7th: Thank you for being so sweet!: Today is all about sweet treats!  Chocolate, cookies, cupcakes etc…
  • Thursday, May 8th: Catered Fiesta Luncheon: Parents are asked to sign up to help set up, serve, clean up and provide desserts and to-go items (cutlery etc…)
  • Friday, May 9th: Kids Say Thank You:  Kids are encouraged to bring in handwritten thank you notes, cards, pictures etc… all telling/showing how much their teachers mean to them.

None of the days are mandatory, nor is gift giving mandatory – but it’s a great way to give people ideas, and create a bit more buzz and excitement surrounding our wonderful teachers.
