My Baby's Cutest Photos From Month 6

It's getting harder to get her to hold still for these little photo shoots!

Fern Winter turned six months old this past weekend and we had our monthly photo shoot. It seems like she’s changing even more quickly now. (See Month 1 , Month 2 , Month 3 , Month 4 and Month 5 photo shoots to compare!) She’s grabbing everything and interested in exploring the world around her despite the fact that she isn’t yet crawling.

This month Fern tasted her first foodhad her first giggle fit, took her first trip to the beach, and even fell even more deeply in love with our dog, Marley.

I am documenting Fern’s first year of life by doing a round up of my favorite photos from that month and taking her photo in front of our chalkboard and making a list of her likes and dislikes.

See Fern’s likes and dislikes and best photos from this past month after the jump!

Fern likes:

*the neighborhood swim park, *water in any form, *avocado + banana, *playing with Marley, *her “Gentle Giraffe”, *arching her back in anger, *throwing things on the ground, *napping in Mommy’s bed

Fern dislikes:

*being hot, *sweet potatoes, *napping in her own bed, *grocery shopping, *being in her car seat for too long

Fern’s best photos from this month:

    6 months old!
I can't believe it's been 6 months since I first met this little lovely! Time flies when you're having fun.
  • My favorite 2 of 15
    My favorite
This is quite possibly my most favorite Fern photo of all time (OK, I know 6 months isn't all that long, but still...). This shot perfectly captures her sweet personality.
  • Swimming fun 3 of 15
    Swimming fun
We spent a lot of time swimming this month. The warm weather finally decided to show its face here in Oregon and we took full advantage and discovered that Fern absolutely LOVES swimming!
  • Baby bum 4 of 15
    Baby bum
Does this one really even need any explanation? Baby bums are just the cutest!
  • Baby led weaning fail 5 of 15
    Baby led weaning fail
As Fern got started with solids we decided to take the "Baby Led Weaning" approach to meal times. This lasted until Fern choked (more like sort of gagged) on a tiny piece of watermelon and I got freaked out. Baby led weaning is not for the faint of heart and I just couldn't hack it, so we're back to purees.
  • Blueberries for Fern 6 of 15
    Blueberries for Fern
So, Fern didn't actually get to eat any of the blueberries, but she did have fun sitting outside and watching me pick them whilst digging in the dirt and pulling up plants. It was pretty adorable.
  • Sleepy girl 7 of 15
    Sleepy girl
I'm a total sucker for sleeping baby photos and this one is one of my favorites. Pretty light + a cute baby = a fantastic combo.
  • Strolling 8 of 15
This month Fern decided that her stroller is OK, so we've taken a few walks here and there.
  • Beach fun with Daddy 9 of 15
    Beach fun with Daddy
This photo is from Fern's first trip to the beach and I love this sweet moment between her and her Daddy that I caught in between the obligatory posed family photo.
  • Digging 10 of 15
Fern was definitely a fan of the sand and apparently thought it was pretty tasty as well since she kept trying to sneak little tastes.
  • Toes in the ocean 11 of 15
    Toes in the ocean
Despite how chilly the Pacific Ocean can be, I let Fern dip her toes in and she LOVED it! My girl is definitely a water baby.
  • Big girl 12 of 15
    Big girl
Fern likes to try to do things on her own and standing is her favorite. Hold her hands and she'll instantly use you as a balance so she can stand up.
  • Best friends 13 of 15
    Best friends
This month Fern and our dog Marley became even more interactive and I've been having a blast watching them play together.
  • Sweaty head baby 14 of 15

The result of nursing in the summer time: sweet rosy cheeks and sweaty hair.
  • Happy Camper 15 of 15
    Happy Camper
Bath time is the official cure for my grumpy baby. Put her in a tub and she's happy as a clam.
