Today I read an article about a mom who gave birth to twins in different years. Her first son was born at 11:37 pm on December 31, 2011, her second son was born at 12:10 am on January 1, 2012.
Not only were her twin boys born on different days, they were born in different years, I doubt that happens all that often…if ever.
Even better, twin A was the last baby born in that area in 2011 and twin B was the first baby of the new year. The fraternal twins were delivered vaginally, non-medicated and both were breech, hello most interesting birth story of 2012 on the very first day of the year.
I told my husband about this amazing birth day and while he acknowledged that it was pretty cool, he still thinks there’s one birthday that would be better.
2012 is a leap year, meaning a few babies will be born on February 29, 2012. There is only a 1 in 1,461 chance of being born on leap year. (vs. a 1 in 365 chance of having the same birthday as me…April 28…best day ever.) So far it is estimated that 4 million people have been born on February 29th and there’s also an entire society dedicated to leap year babies. Sure it’s cool to have your baby born into a secret birthday society…but I still stand by twins in two different years being niftier.
Seems like there have been a lot of interesting birth days lately, 1/11/11, 11/11/11, then February 29, 2012 and last 12/12/12 (psst, if you want a chance at the 12/12 baby? You’re going to have to get pregnant around March 15…personal experience here.)
What do you think about these super unique birth days? Pain in the butt or the ultimate in unique?
