My 12 Favorite Avery Moments of 2012

Happy New Year! There is no doubt that 2012 proved to be a blessed year for my family. In March of 2012 we welcomed Avery Rose into our family and couldn’t have been happier. Avery has brought so much joy to our family.

From her incredibly easy birth (I know, I was very lucky) to her very easy going personality, Avery has been the perfect fit for our family. She is such a joy in our lives and amazes me everyday with her super bubbly personality.

As we say goodbye to 2012 and hello to 2013, I wanted to look back on some of my favorite moments with Avery from this past year. She’s proof that 2012 was a year to remember!

    Love at First Sight
This was our first moment of meeting one another. After nine long months, I was finally meeting this sweet little girl.
  • She’s Found Herself 2 of 12
    She's Found Herself
Avery and I were playing in the mirror after a day of no naps. This was the first time that the looked in the mirror and saw someone (herself) looking back at her. She was then entertained for the next five minutes staring and smiling at herself.
  • Sleeping Through the Night 3 of 12
    Sleeping Through the Night
This was the first night that Avery slept through the night. Granted it was in her swing, but it still counts. This was my first Mother's Day as a mom of two and she gave me the best present I could have ever asked for!
  • Beach Babe 4 of 12
    Beach Babe
We made several beach trips this summer and Avery was such a easy-going relaxed baby during all of our trips. She loved the sound of the ocean and the cool breeze.
  • Angry Avery 5 of 12
    Angry Avery
This is the very first Angry Avery photo that ever surfaced. It was so funny because she was enjoying the swing so much and this is just one of the facial expressions that came up. She looks so mad, but wasn't upset in the slightest.
  • True Test of Motherhood 6 of 12
    True Test of Motherhood
This is a photo taken after nearly 10 hours on a flight that was only supposed to take three hours. It was at this moment that I knew that Avery could handle anything and everything put in her way. She was the best baby I could have ever asked for and has never made being trapped on an airplane feel so special and relaxed.
  • Daddy’s Girl 7 of 12
    Daddy's Girl
Every morning Avery is the first person to wake us up. I always bring her into the bed, nurse her and then she lays in between both of us. On this particular morning she cuddled up with my husband and fell back asleep. It was the cutest thing ever. This girl definitely has a very special love for her daddy.
  • Music Makers 8 of 12
    Music Makers
Harlan and Avery love playing with one another. Everywhere Harlan goes, Avery has to follow. I found them making music in their room one afternoon and though it was the cutest thing ever.
  • Apple Picking 9 of 12
    Apple Picking
We go apple picking every year, but this was the first year that Aver tagged along. She absolutely loved trying to take a bite of every single apple that she could find. I loved watching her explore everything outside. It was definitely a great trip for the entire family.
  • Cuddles 10 of 12
    Cuddles
As much as I would love to say that Avery is a person that loves to cuddle, she really doesn't. She is always on the go and wants to be moving all of the time that she can't sit still for more than a couple of seconds. For some reason on this morning she needed some extra cuddles to start her day and I wasn't one that was going to oblige.
  • Wake Up, Sister! 11 of 12
    Wake Up, Sister!
Avery does not like it when Harlan isn't around. I thank goodness that when Harlan is at school it's Avery's nap time, because she doesn't know what to do with herself without her sister. Harlan had fallen asleep one day after school and Avery became so upset about it that she tried to do whatever she could to wake her up. It was the cutest thing I've ever seen.
  • Sister Hugs 12 of 12
    Sister Hugs
I've watched their relationship evolve over the past 10 months and I can honestly say it has been the most spectacular thing to see. These girls truly love each other more than words can describe. This one little hug shows you just how much love fill their relationship. It's magical.
