Truth be told, I was already picking out birth announcements at about six months pregnant. I’m kind of a paper nut, so I suppose it was to be expected. These days, however, there are many creative and unique ways to share your baby with the world beyond the traditional announcement. Click through for some of my favorites, which include everything from a DIY crafting project and video to magnets and mugshots (hilarious!). Welcome to the world, kid.
Now granted, this DIY project take a little bit of work, but how cute is the end result? Fiskar Crafts Blog has all the steps you need to create your little chick's debut!
This library card announcement was created by Ilfant Shop on Etsy, and I adore its creative simplicity. Doesn't seeing these cards take you back in time? Love that!
So this one, by photographer Charlotte Rosenhoff, is amongst my favorites, and it would be fairly easy to re-create. A clock, measuring stick, calendar, wooden blocks (or similar), scale and a few Photoshop skills and you're good to go. Too cute!
Okay, this one, by blogger Ashley Martin Smith and her husband, just cracks me up. And once again, would be fairly easy to recreate. As her post about the announcement states, "It's a felony to be this cool." Hilarious!
I love this announcement for movie-loving parents! 5 Star Baby has a long list of titles to choose from, among them "About a Boy" and "Some Kind of Wonderful." So fun!
Sure, it might help that the parents who created this "CIA" announcement for friends and family are designers with a creative edge. But seriously, how fun! You can see more detailed pics here, and if you're interested in one for your little fugitive, reach out to Oliver's parents.
Designs by Etsy shop Sprinkled Joy go above and beyond the traditional card. Love this!
Eye Heart Pretty Things is up to all sorts of crafty things, including the photography and styling of this card. I just love that this baby is so comfortably sleeping on a stack of children's books. Adorable!
Paper announcements can be put on the fridge for a little while, but how about something that will really last? Love the idea of a magnet baby announcement for a daily dose of cute in the kitchen!
