Zeke's First WeekMolly Thornberg
We did it! We have survived baby’s first week without any major meltdowns!
It’s crazy to think it was already 1 week ago today that I was laying in the hospital bed, glaring into the eyes of my new little boy trying comprehend all that had happened in the hours leading up to his arrival. And now, it’s a week. I know if I don’t capture each moment, it will be a year and then 5 years and then so on. As I said before, I am making every effort to enjoy the moment.
Our new little boy, Zeke is an absolute gem. So much so, I don’t want to brag or say anything – terribly afraid I will jinks our blessing. After having 2 babies with colic, I am praying that this sweet child doesn’t endure that (this mommy isn’t sure if she can handle another round of colic!). We are making it. I am sleeping when he is sleeping. My husband is playing super hero with the other 3 kids. And we are making this happen.
Here is our week in review – in pictures:
Day 1 1 of 7Day 1 - baby Zeke is born at 7:17 am weighing in at 7.2 lbs - 19.5 inches long. We're in love.
Day 2 2 of 7Day 2 - meeting his people. The world converged upon on our hospital room. Sleeping is non-existent, we're too in love to stop staring at him.
Day 3 3 of 7Day 3 - it's time to go HOME! The family is back together. Let the chaos BEGIN!
Day 4 4 of 7Day 4 - we're adjusting to this sleeping when baby sleeps thing. Zeke is darling, eating like a champ and has only been hit once with a toy.
Day 5 5 of 7Day 5 - Zeke passes his jaundice test with flying colors and has is back at his birth weight. Daddy went back to work, and Mommy survived!
Day 6 6 of 7Day 6 - Sleep. Eat. Sleep. Eat. Poop. Poop. Poop. Eat. Umbilical cord fell off!
Day 7 7 of 7Day 7 - FIST PUMP! We made it a week! Happy 1 week Zeke!
