5 Ways Motherhood Makes Us More BeautifulLauren Hartmann
It’s no secret that motherhood is a seriously challenging endeavor. Not only will it challenge you emotionally, but also physically. After having a child, you may not look as you once did. Those dark circles and crows feet may be a little more prominent due to your new sleep schedule (or rather a lack-of-sleep schedule). Where your once impressive abs used to be, may now reside “just a stomach”. Your feet may not fit in those cute heels anymore, and let’s not even get started with your hair that may have completely changed textures with all of your postpartum hormonal changes. But despite some of these less than beautiful changes, I still believe wholeheartedly that motherhood is one of the best “beauty treatments” a woman can experience. Not only is motherhood a beautiful endeavor, but I believe that it makes us as women so much more beautiful in the process. Here are 5 ways motherhood makes us more beautiful…
You smile more 1 of 5
You can't help but beam when you take in those moments of sweetness that only children can provide, and smiles are infinitely more lovely than frowns.
Inner beauty 2 of 5
Nothing makes you radiate a lovely glow quite like inner beauty and the newfound selflessness that motherhood brings about through the unconditional love and caring for another person and this newfound selflessness will make you glow from the inside out. Nothing is more beautiful than inner beauty.
Your body is perfect 3 of 5
Even though you may have stretch marks, a less flat tummy, or breasts that fall just a little lower than they once did, you can feel more beautiful knowing the true strength and capability of your body. It played an integral part of giving life to a human and there is nothing quite so beautiful as that.
Beautifully confident 4 of 5
Before I was a mother I got hung up on a million little insecurities. I was forever worrying about what other people thought of me and how I was being perceived. After becoming a mother...I'm a people pleaser by nature, so I'll probably never stop caring what others think completely but I am so much more self-assured now. I feel like motherhood has helped me come into my own and realize who I am and what is truly important. I walk a little taller and question myself a little less and confidence is a beautiful thing.
You are made to feel lovely 5 of 5
When your own child gazes up at you adoringly and sweetly brushes their tiny hand along your cheek or runs their teeny fingers through your hair, you can't help but feel lovely. Your child thinks you are beautiful and that is the sweetest gift.
