This post is for the hair-obsessed who love a good app designed to make life easier, like me. Where were these resources years ago? I would have saved myself lots of time and money. Starting with the notion that I could ever look good with blonde hair. Yet I’ve done it to myself (and my hair) about three times in my life. I’m not talking about highlights or ombre. I’m talking full-on bleach. It’s not a good look on me, at all. I’ve also been the victim of numerous bad hair cuts (mainly because few stylists know how to cut my type of hair properly). I’ve also requested things that didn’t suit the shape of my face or the texture of my hair. I’m not exactly innocent.
If you’ve been thinking about an entirely new look for the new year, here are 5 hair apps you must try before visiting your stylist!
If you love getting inspiration from celebrity hairstyles, then this app is for you! It allows you to combine a picture of yourself with a celebrity whose face shape matches yours. To give your stylist a better idea of what you’d like, use the app and bring the image to your next hair appointment. There are over 500 styles to choose from in addition to styles selected by InStyle editors so you can make an informed decision about which cut is best for you. New looks are added all the time. Definitely a fun and informative app to try!
2. Hair At Home
Are you more DIY when it comes to your hair? The Hair at Home app features award-winning UK hairdresser Anita McMillan. She shows you step by step how to do different styles at home like blow-outs and adding hair extensions.
Ever thought about going green? As in green hair? You can use this app to see what you’d look like. I should’ve also mentioned in my opening that I too had bright red and green hair. Not at the same time.
Thinking about highlights? Want to go a shade lighter? Darker? Hair Color Premium is a great app that beats relying on the color match illustrations found in the back of hair dye boxes. You can upload your own photo and choose different colors. Need an opinion? You can share your picture on Facebook or email mom for the truth.
Maybe you really have no idea what hair style you’d like! And that’s OK too! With Hair Makeover, you and your significant other can try a variety different styles and cuts, make a collage, share with friends on Facebook and Twitter and decide what’s best for you!More On
