If I could only give one piece of hairstyling advice to moms it would be: accessorize. Adding a hair accessory is simply the fastest and easiest way to fix a bad hair day or elevate any hairstyle. An embellished ponytail holder, colorful headband, or decorative barrette takes seconds to throw in but gives even the most undone bed head a more finished look. The effort is minimal but the payoff is huge.
There are lots of great accessories on the market but I’m always looking for fun and unique ways to adorn my hair using unconventional items. This can be as simple are repurposing a piece of jewelry or a bit of ribbon. I also like to upcycle old, unused, or found items to create my own embellishments. Dreaming up new ways to reuse elements and crafting easy hair accessories is really gratifying, a little addictive, and totally free.
The slideshow below provides some ideas to get you started. I show you how to use items from your closet and jewelry box in new ways, as well as offer very simple beginner-friendly crafts. Have fun and be inventive; the possibilities are endless!
