Fall Ready: 5 Red Lip Colors for Olive Skin

Finding a good red lipstick takes a bit of foot work. My skin has yellow/green undertones, so I find that bright reds do not match well. Many lipsticks seem to have an orange hue that tends to make me look pale. A deeper vampy color or a blue-based berry tone looks better on my skin.

If you have yellow/green undertones like me, take your time finding the right lip color. You want your color to stand out, but it should complement your skin. This season offers up an array of gorgeous reds to choose from. I had a field day at Sephora and Target picking out fall reds. Not only are the color options endless, but you may also find that a particular finish looks better on you. For example, a satin or semi-matte finish suits me more than a gloss in red. It’s a lot more than just finding the right shade. However, once you do a bit of homework, it will take the guess work out of picking the right colors for you come next season!

Here are my favorite 5 red lips colors for olive skin.

  • Smashbox Black Cherry 1 of 5

The Smashbox lipstick in Black Cherry is really becoming one of may favorite colors. It's perfect year round. It's not overpowering and has a beautiful raisin hue. To add a bit more edge, try out the Oxblood manicure seen in this picture.

  • Cover Girl Tempt Seduction 2 of 5

Cover Girl Tempt Seduction is so bright and pretty. I love that it moisturizes and lasts several hours without having to reapply.

  • Mary Kay Red 3 of 5

Mary Kay's Creme Lipstick in Red is one of my go-to colors. It has a bit of shimmer and goes on rich and smooth.

  • NARS Red Lizard 4 of 5

When I don't want a shimmer, I opt for NARS Red Lizard. It has a semi-matte and velvet finish.

  • Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Backstage 5 of 5

I actually went to several stores looking for Revlon's Backstage and finally found it at Target. There were two left! Obviously, it's a popular color. Maybe because it's the one seen on most of the ads? It's such a beautiful and versatile lipstick. You can kick up the intensity by applying a few coats.
