Get the Look | Emma Stone’s Emerald Green Eyes

Three shades of green (emerald, tender shoots, and grayed jade) have been named among spring 2013’s top fashion colors by Pantone, the leading authority on color trends. The selections run the spectrum from bold and sophisticated (emerald) to invigorating and cheerful (tender shoots) to subtle and hushed (grayed jade).

If you’re not convinced of a particular color trend, makeup is an easy, low commitment way to incorporate a seasonal trend into your look. With St. Patrick’s Day less than two weeks away, now’s the perfect time to start thinking about adding a green hue to your makeup bag for spring.

When it comes to bold makeup colors, I’ve always found a little goes a long way. That’s why I love a shimmery shadow or eyeliner paired with a nude lip and cheek. Emma Stone got it right at the premier of her latest flick, Gangster Squad. Her shimmery emerald shadow is the perfect compliment to her stunning green eyes.

Blending eye shadow is an art, not a science, and takes a bit of trial and error to achieve a look that works best for you (there are endless tutorials on Pinterest and YouTube if you want a step by step) but not surprisingly, darker shades of green work best on darker skin tones and conversely, lighter shades are more complimentary to paler ones. Start with a primer and try a brown eyeliner and mascara for a more subtle blend than black.

Here are some product suggestions from my tried and true favorite brands that will help you add a touch of green to your beauty routine:
