Usually we love seeing signs of warmer weather — birds chirping, the smell of freshly cut grass, and plants sprouting new leaves. But we don’t expect this indoors. What a few customers of beauty line Lush experienced was far from the ordinary. They had odd side effects from their Wiccy Magic Muscles Massage Bar. No, they weren’t weird allergic reactions. They were actually finding tiny plants growing from their shower drains.
While we’re all about relaxation (or even the chance to take an uninterrupted shower) and going green, we’d rather not discover tiny plants in our drains! So what’s the cause? Helen Ambrosen, Lush co-founder and product inventor says, “We use organic aduki beans to create a texture in the massage bar, so that you’ve got small bead like shapes to massage the muscles. In order for the beans to germinate they must have been left in the shower for a few days.” The warm, damp shower drain proves a great environment for those loose beans. At least we know the ingredients are natural!
So, word to the wise, be careful while indulging in this Lush product. You may just find yourself super relaxed from the massage bar, but also with the start of an unwanted garden.More On
