My Best DIY Beauty Advice from RuPaul | And False Eyelash Tips and Tricks

Recently I stumbled upon and watched an episode of #CandidlyNicole: Think Like a Drag Queen via StyleList featuring RuPaul and was blown away when I heard him talk about his most logical DIY beauty advice.

I’ll give you a moment to watch it for yourself… {if you can’t see the video below click here}

Learn anything fun? For me, it was the false eyelash tip {at 1:52}! And simply put: cut them down to size to fit your eyes.

The trick to putting on eyelashes is to cut a strip into 3 pieces and then take those pieces of the eyelash, dip the end in glue, and place it on top of your natural lash. That’s easier than trying to put a whole lash strip in place ~ RuPaul

I’m pretty sure my head exploded when I watched that little bit of DIY beauty wisdom and wondered why I’d never thought of it on my own?! It’s so easy!

I don’t wear falsies often, but I do on occasion and because I have small, hooded eyes, have always found it difficult to get my hands on a pair that fit my lids perfectly. After trying Single Eyelash Extensions, which proved to be too difficult for me to try again after my first failed attempt, I basically just dealt with the poking and sticking and general discomfort I felt while wearing them. Beauty is pain, right? Wrong.

I thought I was doing well when I discovered dark toned eyelash adhesive!  Which is amazing if you haven’t tried it because it doesn’t leave any white residue. But from now on I will be cutting my lashes down to size, and not only that, into three smaller sections for easier application and to get a more natural look.

This is my collection of false eyelashes. I’m not sure if I’m the only one who saves them and reuses them {I can’t be, right?} but you can see below all the different sizes and shapes and density, and variables lashes come in. Getting it right is a challenge and takes trial and error! And this of course isn’t news to anyone who wears falsies on the regular.
