Osmia Organics Night Body OilSonya Benham
For all the all-natural mommas out there, I’ve discovered a line of organic and natural products that is as luxurious as it is earthy. Osmia Organics was founded in 2010 by former emergency care doctor, Sarah Villafranco, M.D. Her medical background has clearly informed her skincare line as evidenced by the black clay facial soap ($22), which works wonders for perioral dermatitis (breakouts around the mouth.)
I also appreciate the way Dr. Villafranco explains in detail why Osmia products are formulated with only organic and natural ingredients. The website lists the reasons why they are free of parabens, phthalates, harmful sulfates, petroleum, synthetic fragrances, and artificial colors and gives a great, in depth explanation of why organic soaps are preferable to commercial ones.
I’ve tried several of the products and while I’m fond of them all, especially the honey-myrrh lip repair ($22) and the deliciously woodsy smelling vetiver grey soap ($12), my favorite is the night body oil ($65 for 7.5 oz or $20 for 2 oz). This indulgent oil smells amazing without being overpowering. Formulated with lavender, roman chamomile and wild atlas cedar essential oils, it is a natural way to calm the body and get some zzz’s.
Using oils to moisturize is a real treat and this organic concoction is just lovely. To use, take a relaxing bath or shower in the evening. Apply the oil while skin is still wet and let yourself air dry if possible. Your skin will feel as soft as silk and the lovely subtle fragrance will help you relax for a more restful sleep.
