6 Ways to Rock Pantone’s Radiant Orchid-Inspired MakeupKate Bryan
Pantone named Radiant Orchid the color of the year for 2014.
I couldn’t be more pleased about that! I love the rich lavender shade — it makes me excited for spring!
Sometimes, though, that can be a difficult color to pull off when it comes to makeup. Give me an orchid-colored sweater and I’ll be fine, but tell me I have to work an orchid shade into my cosmetics? I may need a minute to think about it.
For eye makeup, the shade pairs beautifully with browns and grays. And as a lip color? You can’t go wrong! Just make sure you don’t go overboard with wearing it as a makeup shade; too much orchid could end up dating your look a bit … if over-applied it can be reminiscent of the 1980s!
It won’t be hard to find orchid-inspired makeup now that Pantone made it official, but in case you need a starting point, check out the products below. Can’t get enough radiant orchid? You can also rock this shade in your hair… if you are brave enough.
