Post-Makeup Chocolate Facial Mask To Rejuvenate Your SkinRachel Matos
My skin has taken a beating the last two months. There’s been lots of makeup and face painting going on (here, here, and here), and it shows. My face got really dry, flaky, and dull. Naturally, I went to chocolate to fix my dry skin. We all know that chocolate is great for skin, right?
Well, it is! Of course, not the sugary kind that comes in a bar or cookie. I’m talking about the pure, organic, minimally-processed, cocoa powder kind of chocolate. Mixed with other ingredients (see below), you can make yourself a relaxing facial mask that’s perfect for post-makeup skin.
Why chocolate? Its high antioxidant content improves the cells in your skin and neutralizes free radicals. It also increases blood flow, which will help the overall appearance of your skin while improving the function of blood vessels. And most of all, it smells heavenly. It feels like a luxurious treat for the skin.
If you’d like to create a post-makeup facial mask to rejuvenate your skin, here’s a great recipe mixed with avocado to really get your skin moisturized and ready for the upcoming holiday events!
1 teaspoon unprocessed cocoa powder: Try to find the purest available so you can get the most benefits.
1/4 avocado: The saturated fats in avocado moisturize and help skin look and feel soft and healthy. The antioxidants found in avocados also protect your skin from wrinkles and signs of aging. It also contains Vitamin E and C, which help protect the skin from photo-aging due to sun exposure while improving the skin’s elasticity and firmness.
2 teaspoons of sesame oil: Sesame oil is often used in sunscreens, skin cleansers, moisturizers, and cosmetics. When used, it forms a barrier on the skin’s surface and holds in moisture while keeping the skin hydrated.
2 teaspoons of coconut milk: Coconut milk is rich in vitamins C, E, B1, B3, B5, B6, iron, calcium, and magnesium, to name a few. Whether you drink it or apply it to your face, coconut milk pretty much has everything you need for smooth, soft skin!
1/2 teaspoon of honey: We all know how much I love honey for skin. It’s also a natural antioxidant, which helps reduce signs of premature aging.
Just put all of your ingredients into a bowl and mix! Make sure your avocado is ripe and mashed well. Your final mix should be rich and creamy.
