Summer Beauty Tips from 5 of Hollywood’s Most Sought-After Makeup Artists & Hairstylists

The start of a new season is the ideal time to revisit your beauty routine and take stock of what’s working and what’s not. Summer in particular is a great time to experiment with new looks and bold colors against the naturally vibrant backdrops. It’s also important to incorporate products that protect the hair and skin from sun damage, salt water, and chlorine. P&G Beauty asked a dream team of Hollywood’s most sought-after makeup artists and hairstylists to help us transition into the season with personal beauty tips and product recommendations for a safe and glamorous summer. Here’s their best advice:

Pink for CoverGirl1. Michiko Boorberg, Celebrity Makeup Artist: “I mix up my summer beauty look by wearing a lot less on my eye, so I’ll try a colored eyeliner- and always mascara- paired with a brighter lip color with a hint of blush. I like for my skin to glow, so I only cover what I need to. I also love rocking a messy top bun or high ponytail in the summer. My trick for beating the summer heat is keeping Olay wipes handy! They help me keep my skin looking great. I like to give myself a mid day clean by wiping my skin, covering what I need to, then adding a hint of blush.”

2. Katie Robinson, Celebrity Makeup Artist: “The best trick to mixing up my beauty routine is with fun lip colors. I love keeping an array of sheer, bright colors in my bag so I can switch things up to suit my mood.”

3. Jennifer Brent, Celebrity Hairstylist: “I keep my hair looking best by keeping it hydrated with a light oil, washing as little as possible, and using a rich conditioner to contain frizz. Less is more in the summer! I often mix up my look between twisted up braids, loose Bohemian waves, and occasionally a slicked back pony. I can wear these looks right from the beach or pool, and they are humidity proof.”

5. Ayana Clark, Nail Expert: “Summer is definitely the perfect time for daring nail looks. Have fun by using tropical colors as a base coat and embellishing with floral, polka dot, and/or tribal designs. For those who are not fond of prints, try finishing with crystals for added texture. I always adore different shade of pinks and blues, especially because they are great complimentary colors for your summer wardrobe. You can never go wrong with neon color nails, as they are always on trend for summer, no matter the shape or length.”
