For any women who color their grey hair regularly, I know you’ve experienced some level of desperation at about 1 week out from your next appointment.
The grey starts to peek through, and you simply can’t wait to get to the salon to get it covered.
While there are coloring techniques that can be done to help soften the line between the natural hair and the colored hair, there is simply nothing better than seeing all your grey disappear.
In the time between appointments, or even if you miss an appointment and need to reschedule, there are a few things you can do to help “mask” your grey hair.
Tips for Masking Grey Hair:
1. Move your part over a bit. Unless you are 90%+ grey, usually if you move your part over a bit, you will uncover some hair that may not be as grey as the hair in your part. The other perk to doing this is that your hair will pop a little bit with volume, and that may help take some eyes off the grey hair.
2. Consider using some “hair mascara” in a color as close to your hair color as possible. Don’t use the same mascara that you use on your lashes. Companies make specific “mascara” to cover grey that will be slightly more flexible in the hair than mascara would. An example is here.
3. Wear a head scarf or a headband. Using hair accessories will help distract from the grey and you won’t feel like that is all people are seeing.
So just three simple steps for getting you through that final week before your next appointment!
