Ohhhh, Starbucks. You wondrous mecca of all things steamy and divine. You maker of scones and mini donuts and frosted bread. You taker of my cash. It’s such an angsty relationship I have with the Bux. On one hand, whenever I’m out of town and need to feel the familiar comfort of home, Starbucks is there–with all the same drinks and eats I’ve come to adore in my own backyard. I’ll sit and sip for hours, watching people move in and out of the cafe, simmering into the day’s news, nibbling on cake pops and biscotti. Life at Starbucks feels like life at Grandma’s house, without all the cluttered tchotchkes. On the other hand, I always leave with a hole in my wallet. Good gawd, a cup of coffee and Cranberry Bliss Bar will run me nearly ten bucks.
