Once October rolls around, I feel like there’s no use fighting the plethora of desserts and sweets coming my way. In the midst of a sea of apple- and pumpkin-flavored everything, there’s one taste I especially crave, and that’s maple. And believe it or not, it’s not just for pancakes! I just think there’s something definitively fall about a maple-flavored donut or a warm, spicy cake with a sweet maple glaze. But I’ve gone beyond donuts and cakes (though you’ll find those also) and found 24 delicious maple desserts that are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. And don’t worry, I included some healthy recipes, too!
CANDIED MAPLE BACON DONUTS
So let’s kick this thing off with over-the-top candied maple bacon donuts. Homemade donuts topped with a maple glaze and candied bacon. Not for the faint of heart (wink, wink).
This decadent cheesecake is made with both cream cheese and mascarpone, and is sweetened with brown sugar and maple syrup. Then on top? Maple-sweetened whipped cream and maple flakes.
SPICED PUMPKIN PIE WITH MAPLE SYRUP
Is it too early for pumpkin pie? I mean, is there ever a wrong time for pie? I think the answer is a resounding NO. This pie is flavored with maple syrup and a hefty dose of warm spices. Use homemade pumpkin puree for the most extraordinary pumpkin pie imaginable.
GLUTEN-FREE MAPLE CUSTARD TART
This is one of my favorites in the history of all desserts. The crust is gluten-free (but doesn’t have to be), and the silky, maple custard filling is simply too good to pass up. Top with Greek yogurt and candied pecans, please.
PUMPKIN CUPCAKES WITH 7-MINUTE MAPLE FROSTING
This 7-minute frosting isn’t tough to love. Not only is it quick to make, but it’s also sweet, soft, and billowy. Now think of that same frosting with the flavor of real maple added to it. Heavenly, no? Yes. It’s what clouds and angel kisses taste like.
HOMEMADE MAPLE PECAN PIE
I love everything about this hearty homemade pie. This recipe doesn’t have refined sugar like the packaged kind, but it’s still plenty sweet from the maple syrup. And did I mention the tons of pecans? Give me a big slice, please!
SPICED ZUCCHINI PEAR CAKE WITH MAPLE CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
Now we come to cake (also known as my kids’ favorite food group)! I wouldn’t feel so bad about giving them a hefty slice of this spiced zucchini pear cake with maple cream cheese frosting, and I’m pretty sure they’d gobble it right up. Come to think of it, they’d probably eat anything with that delicious frosting slathered on top. (Time for some broccoli cake, kids! Just kidding.)
MAPLE BOURBON BACON AND PECAN COOKIES
These cookies are hardcore: They’re packed with maple, bourbon, bacon, and pecans. As Heather Christo puts it, she wanted to “harness the wonderful salty and slightly sweet flavor of the bacon and the crispy texture.” And boy, did she succeed. Try not to pull these out after the kids go to bed.
GREEK YOGURT AND WHOLE-WHEAT MAPLE APPLE CAKE
Bakeaholic Mama covered all the bases with this hearty Greek yogurt whole-wheat maple apple cake. Truly, I’ve never met a bundt cake I didn’t like, and I like this one very much.
MAPLE CINNAMON MERINGUE COOKIES WITH ALMONDS
Meringues are a classic favorite. Here, they get a little update from the use of maple syrup in place of sugar and the addition of ground Ceylon cinnamon.
SLOW-COOKER MAPLE PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE
You’re seeing spiced pumpkin lattes all over the place, right? But you can make these maple pumpkin spice lattes in your slow-cooker. In my book, that means this is a hands-off recipe that’s perfect for a big crowd — and just the thing to pass out to grownup trick-or-treaters. (I wouldn’t say no to that!)
LOW-CARB MAPLE CREAM SANDWICH COOKIES
These yummy maple cream sandwich cookies are both gluten-free and low-carb. Amazing! If you need a little sweet pick-me-up, these cookies are just the thing but without all the sugar.
MAPLE CREAM PUFFS WITH MAPLE GLAZE
Cream puffs are deceptive because they are so small that it’s easy to eat a dozen without blinking. I’m betting these maple cream puffs are even more addictive.
MAPLE CREAM PUMPKIN PIE WITH GINGERSNAP CRUST
I didn’t leave vegans out! Spabettie always comes up with the most fantastic, creative vegan yummies. Her maple cream pumpkin pie with buttery gingersnap crust is no exception. It’s also gluten-free, which makes me love it even more, as if the caramel drizzle hadn’t already sealed the deal for me.
MAPLE YOGURT PANNA COTTA WITH POACHED FORELLE PEARS
Tangy yogurt, dark maple syrup and perfectly poached pears perfectly complement each other in this gorgeous panna cotta.
CARROT CUPCAKES WITH MAPLE CINNAMON CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
There are two people in this world: those who love carrot cake, and those who don’t. I fall into the first category. I bet the latter group of people would change their minds if they had one of these cupcakes topped with maple cinnamon cream cheese frosting.
COCOA-DUSTED TRUFFLED MAPLE GLAZED WALNUTS
It’s about time we fit some chocolate in with all these maple desserts! I LOVE these cocoa-dusted maple glazed walnuts. Maple glazed walnuts cloaked in maple-flavored chocolate truffle then dusted with cocoa. You’ll be making triple batches of these to giveaway. (But you’ll probably be like me and keep two batches just for yourself.)
MAPLE CREME BRULEE
All the richness of creme brulee sweetened with maple syrup. ‘Nuff said.
MAPLE WALNUT FUDGE
This fudge is loaded with brown sugar-maple flavor and walnuts.

SPICY MAPLE CINNAMON ROASTED ALMONDS
You know the drill. It’s after dinner. You’re sitting down to watch your favorite show. And the munchies hit. You need something, but you don’t know what. Well, I know what I want! spicy maple cinnamon roasted almonds. Technically more of a snack than a dessert, but in any case, they’re sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.
PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE POPSICLES SWEETENED WITH MAPLE SYRUP
The end of summer doesn’t have to mean the end of popsicles, especially if they are pumpkin cheesecake popsicles sweetened with maple syrup.
MAPLE WALNUT COOKIES
Chewy and soft, these maple walnut cookies are packed with maple flavor in the cookies and the glaze.
Lastly, we have maple cream. What exactly is maple cream, you ask? Pure maple syrup, a tiny bit of butter cooked, and then beaten into a spreadable cream. I don’t think there’s any purer way to enjoy maple syrup than like this. While it can be spread on just about anything, when I make it, it’s going between homemade ginger cookies or slathered on a cake!
