My kids came home form school yesterday and both went to the fridge and stared and begged for food. It was a crazy scene of desperation. Good thing I was thinking ahead today and had prepped a fun new snack packed with flavor and a perfect combination of protein and carb. The little apple, cheddar, and ham rolls gave them energy for homework and an evening of playing outside in the late summer heat. These two kids of mine were so happy with this little snack and went on and on about how amazing they taste. The snack is so easy to make that I deconstructed one and showed the kids how to make it. Today I’m just going to prep the ingredients and let them assemble the rolls. We will have a fun Friday afternoon with food.
Here’s how you make the Apple + Cheddar + Ham Rolls for 2 kids
1 Granny Smith Apple
3 Slices of low sodium, no added hormone ham
Cut the apple into thin slices (less than 1/4 inch), cut the cheddar into thin slices, and cut the ham slices in half. Place an apple slice ont top of the cheddar and wrap with ham, hold in place with a toothpick. Snack is served! Really, it’s that simple.
