In my family we love hummus. It’s a healthy dip that pairs well with whole grain pita bread, whole grain tortilla chips and assorted vegetables. To save on calories, I am trying to stick to only eating vegetables with our hummus, but I am an admitted chipaholic. I just can never stop at jut one, two or 20 tortilla chips. The salty crunchy goodness is one of my favorite snacks. So to try and get myself to eat more vegetables with our hummus, I thought I would try a buffalo flavored hummus dip since buffalo wings always make me crave crunchy carrots and celery sticks.
Thankfully it worked. Eating a whole bag of baby carrots and a ton of celery sticks was easy with this delicious spicy buffalo hummus dip.
2 cans garbanzo beans, 1 can drained
1/4 cup buffalo wing sauce
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
3 – 4 tablespoons tahini
the juice of 1 lemon
Combine 1 can drained garbanzo beans and 1 can un-drained (with liquid) in a food processor. Add wing sauce, smoked paprika, tahini and lemon juice. Turn on processor and stream in olive oil until hummus is smooth and creamy.
Serve with fresh celery, carrots and pita bread.
