Are you organized during the holidays? Good for you. I’m more from the everything-by-the-skin-of-my-teeth school of holiday planning, but it’s worked out for me so far. No matter what your approach, most of us will face down that moment on Christmas Eve. You know the one — dinner is finished, the kids are in bed, the dishes are done, but you still have so much to do. Stockings, toy construction, and last-minute wrapping are the usual things on my Christmas Eve to-do list. You know what you need to make it through? A milkshake, of course!
This easy eggnog milkshake is just the kind of creamy, sweet treat you’ll need to give you some get up and go. Besides that, it’s delicious and captures the flavors of the season perfectly. Though this milkshake is especially recommended for Christmas Eve, it will be delicious any day of the holiday season. Consider adding a touch of bourbon for added merrymaking potential!
makes two 8 oz. milkshakes
1 cup eggnog
1 cup (about 4 scoops) vanilla ice cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg, plus more for garnish
2 shots bourbon (optional)
Candy cane garnish (optional)
Combine all of the ingredients in a blender, and pulse just until the mixture is smooth. Pour into glasses, pop in a straw and candy cane, sprinkle a little nutmeg on top, and enjoy!
