If your kids love red licorice, but you don’t love all the sugar they contain, this all-natural snack hack is about to make your day! These Heart-Shaped Dried Strawberries taste just like licorice. You won’t believe how simple it is to make these yummy snacks — only one ingredient and a few minutes of prep are required!

Directions:

  1. Start with a pack of strawberries. We always go organic, because if you’re making treats at home, why not make sure they’re the best quality?!

  2. Cut the green top out from each strawberry, creating a “v” shape. Then slice the strawberries in half. You’ll get dozens of gorgeous little heart-shaped strawberries from a single pint of berries.

  3. Place the strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet, then pop them in an oven heated to the lowest setting (about 170 F). Let them dry in the oven for 6-8 hours, or just until the outer edges are dried but the centers of the strawberries are slightly puffy and still soft.

  4. Remove from the oven and call your kiddos into the kitchen. They’ll love peeling the ready-to-eat “licorice bites” right from off the parchment. Or place strawberries in an airtight container and store in the fridge until ready to serve. Since these little bites haven’t been fully dehydrated, you’ll want to enjoy them within a week.
