I had planned on just making some tomato hearts with my kids. We got the tomatoes out, I sliced and they assembled. Then something unexpected happened, my kids were in awe of how one shape can so easily turn into something completely different. My daughter went in search of other food items we could try this new magical trick on. It was slim pickins’ around these parts, but she found some carrots and they turned out perfectly. Oh what fun we had! These little Valentine heart veggies make for a healthy snack or a great addition to the heart shaped salad.
All you need are a handful of cherub tomatoes and another handful of baby carrots. Slice them on the diagonal, then flip one side and reconnect it. The carrots needs a toothpick, but the tomatoes just stick to themselves. Viola. So simple!
