Home Depot Black Friday 2010...If Only It Was 2004jack
With all these Black Friday 2010 deals at Home Depot, Best Buy, Lowes, Amzon, etc. I’m starting to think I should have remodeled my apartment on Black Friday. Back in 2004, I moved into an old apartment that hadn’t been updated since 1964, the year the building was built. The kitchen had awful green linoleum floors, with green faux marble, plastic counter tops. Oh, and green walls. And flurousent lighting. And metal cabinets that had faux wood laminate. Sounds EXACTLY like a girl’s dream kitchen, right? Well, Home Depot helped change all of that.
Rather than hire pricey interior designers, my mom and I went to Home Depot and worked with one of their design consultants and chose everything for the kitchen from floor to ceiling and appliances. Although we saved money by using Home Depot, I can only imagine if we had been doing this during Black Friday and Cyber Monday! There are sales all over the store this year!
Part of Home Depot’s Black Friday deals include refrigerators, stoves, microwaves and dishwashers. That’s literally everything we bought back in 2004 when we remodeled!
All in all we saved some serious dinero by using Home Depot, but if you’ve been waiting to update your kitchen these Black Friday deals should be your impetus to get going. I’m so happy with my kitchen — every day it still feels brand new to me. And I’ve made some of my happiest memories there. See, it’s my first kitchen. I cooked all my first meals there — my first romantic dinner with my boyfriend, my first foray making homemade pasta (photographic evidence below). It’s where I cook for my family and friends during the holidays. So, thank you Home Depot, for giving me my first big girl kitchen. -Dara Pettinelli
Scenes from my first romantic meal in my new kitchen:
The menu: Homemade pasta with meatballs, salad, bread from my favorite bakery in New York (Balthazar), and wine — one from Italy (my heritage) and one from Spain (my boyfriend’s heritage).
So, apparently homemade pasta does not need to cook as long as boxed pasta. Lesson learned. (It still tasted delicious!)
None of this culinary magic would have been the same in a green and fluorescent outdated kitchen!
