Rainbow everything has taken center-stage nowadays, from Rainbow Poptarts to Rainbow Cake in a Jar. And, while they are all fine and lovely, there’s nothing quite so fun as this divine rainbow frosting, piped right on top a plain, old cupcake.
Though these cupcakes seem fancy and finicky, they are actually quite simple to make. Here is a simple, step-by-step tutorial that will help you frost your cupcakes with rainbow perfection in no time at all!
Frosting your cupcakes with rainbow icing isn’t hard at all. In fact, it’s as simple as 1-2-3-4! Just click on the slideshow below to see each step. Happy cupcakes!
Step 1 1 of 5Fit a pastry bag with a large star tip, open the bag wide by folding it over your hands.
Step 2 2 of 5Tint 2 tablespoons of white frosting (a total of 14 Tbsp.) in each of the seven colors of the rainbow. Use a knife to drag each color up the side of your pastry bag.
Step 3 3 of 5Fill the center of your pastry bag with white frosting. Twist it closed.
Step 4 4 of 5Pipe the frosting in a circular motion around the cupcakes. Top with a rainbow lollipop, if desired.
