Ice + Chai + Apple Cider = Iced Chaider, Our New Favorite DrinkKelsey Banfield
What the what?? That is the first thing I thought when I saw iced chaider on the menu at our local coffee shop last summer. I inquired and was told that it is, in fact, a drink made up of chai and cider over ice. I was intrigued. I ordered it. It was amazing. I ordered it again and again all summer long. I finally got a little tired of shelling out tons of cash for a drink I could make at home, so I started fiddling with the recipe in my kitchen. Lo and behold, I eventually got it to work! Now, I make it all the time. Here’s how to transform the delicious fall/wintertime favorite into a cool and refreshing beverage that’s perfect for summer:
– 1 cup fresh apple cider
– 1/4 cup freshly brewed Chai tea, cooled to room temperature
– lots of ice
Add enough ice to a tall glass so that it is halfway full. Pour in the chai tea, then add the cider. Cover the top of the glass with a lid of some sort and shake gently to incorporate the two beverages. Drink with a straw and savor.
