How many times have you been ready to make a recipe that calls for buttermilk and you realize that you don’t have buttermilk in the house? It happens to me often. Luckily there’s a super quick way to make a buttermilk substitution at home in minutes and with just two ingredients that you probably have in your house at all times. There’s pretty much no reason to buy buttermilk again once you know this simple substitution. I typically only ever need a cup at a time and that is exactly how much this recipe makes. Naturally if you need more you can double the recipe.
What you’ll need:
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon vinegar (or fresh lemon juice)
What to do:
1. Place vinegar into Pyrex container. Add milk. Allow to sit for approximately 5-10 minutes. Use as you would buttermilk.
