Listen, you can keep all your jelly beans and your Peeps and your chocolate Easter bunnies. When it comes to Easter candy, there is one indisputable treat that reigns supreme, IMO: The Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg.
As soon as it starts popping up in the grocery store, my mouth immediately begins to water, and I pretty much have to avoid the damn things until Easter Sunday, lest I spend all of March and April in a sugar-induced peanut butter egg coma.
But it looks like I’m going to have to make an exception, because according to a recent press release from Krispy Kreme, they released a Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg DOUGHNUT on March 19 — just in time for Easter.
According to Krispy Kreme, the doughnut will be available for a limited time only, in participating stores around the U.S. But OMG is this fabulous news.
And just check out the pics — it looks delish!
And if that’s not enough to make you get in your car and drive to the nearest Krispy Kreme immediately, how about this mouthwatering description: According to the pastry chain, “the doughnut features an unglazed shell filled with an irresistible blend of peanut butter KREME, dipped in a custom chocolate icing and decorated like a festive Easter egg.”
Um — YES. PLEASE.
The Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg Doughnut isn’t the only new dessert to hit Krispy Kreme stores this spring, though. Its arrival comes along with the “much anticipated” release of the Lemon Glaze Doughnut, which customers selected as their top pick during the #VoteForGlaze campaign that ran in January.
According to the press release, the Lemon Glaze will make its debut for one full week, from Monday, April 23 through Sunday, April 29. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will also be announcing a collab in the coming weeks that will “bring to fans two new doughnuts featuring some of America’s most popular cookies.”
“Our chefs have been busy creating awesome new doughnut tastes for our guests,” shared Jackie Woodward, Chief Marketing Officer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. “The Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg is a fun, seasonal take on our delicious collaborations with Reese’s. And, our fans have been buzzing and speculating for weeks regarding when the new Lemon Glaze Doughnut that they voted for would be available. Add in special new cookie-inspired doughnuts, and it’s going to be an awesome spring for Krispy Kreme guests.”
Hmmmm … sounds exciting.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a date with a Reese’s Peanut Butter Doughnut that’s calling my name …
