Every year, my husband and I throw a modest holiday party, and every year there’s a big pot of cider bubbling on the stove. A gorgeous mug of spiced cider warms guests and fills the house with an irresistible fragrance. And the fact that a batch of spiced apple cider takes minutes to throw together doesn’t hurt either. So this holiday season, whether you’re entertaining, cozying up with your family, or serving up warm drinks for carolers, this simple, beautiful apple cider recipe is just the thing to make everything a little merrier!
Citrus Spiced Apple Cider
4 cups unfiltered apple cider
4 cinnamon sticks
5 allspice berries
1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
pinch sea salt
1 orange, sliced plus more for garnish
1 lemon, sliced
Combine the cider, spices, and citrus in a saucepan and heat over medium-high heat. When the mixture starts to steam, turn heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain into mugs, garnish with a cinnamon stick and orange slice, and serve.
