With all the Prince William engagement chatter going on, I thought it would be fun to dream up the perfect engagement party for the happy couple. Of course, everyone is talking about how the wedding is set for the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s wedding, honoring William’s mother, and he even proposed to Kate with Diana’s engagement ring, an oval sapphire surrounded by diamonds, so an engagement party with a nod to his mom seems fitting as well.
I’m dreaming of a royal tea party engagement, complete with white roses, finger sandwiches and a luxurious dessert trays.
I’m thinking to start, we’ll need a selection of small finger sandwiches, perhaps some orange and cranberry scones fit for a queen…err, princess, and plenty of chocolate desserts.
Romantic tiramisu hearts should be perfect for atop the tea tray, and tiny tarts are definitely in order. On the savory side, these broccoli and cheddar gougères look delightful, perhaps paired with a cucumber and avocado finger sandwich and a lobster salad tea sandwich.

But what do I know? Kate Middleton is easy and accessible, and maybe the couple will go a completely contemporary route to celebrate their big news. What would you serve at a royal tea party to celebrate Prince William and Kate Middleton’s engagement?
