Get Your Kids to Eat Fruit with This Rainbow Smoothie

This Rainbow Smoothie is great for summer. It is delicious, easy to prep, and very fun to drink. Kids get so excited with colorful eats. So why not make them a super healthy smoothie? Plus, this one has all the powers of super foods. There are blueberries, strawberries, bananas, raspberries, peaches, mango, and even kale in there. Yes, they love the colors and the flavor. Trust me. It is so kid-approved that I would suggest it as a fun activity for an upcoming party. Just set a station of frozen smoothies and let the kids form their own healthy rainbow. Sounds like fun doesn’t it?

Rainbow Smoothie

Makes: 4

Indigo Layer

  • 1 cup blueberries, frozen
  • 1/2 cup almond milk

Dark Green Layer

  • 1 cup kale
  • 1 banana, frozen
  • 1/2 cup almond milk

Light Green Layer

  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 cup almond milk

Orange Layer

  • 1 cup peach slices, frozen
  • 1/2 cup almond milk

Yellow Layer

  • 1/2 cup mango pieces, frozen
  • 1/4 cup almond milk

Pink Layer

  • 1 cup strawberries, frozen
  • 1/2 cup almond milk

Red Layer

  • 1 cup raspberries, frozen


  1. In a high-speed blender, blend each set of ingredients and place in separate small bowls. Place in the freezer. (Be sure to wash the blender between fruit smoothies — except after the green — so the colors don’t mix.)
  2. Start layering the smoothies evenly into four glasses, in the order of the rainbow.

Notes: Feel free to switch the fruits. If needed, add a little sweetener to the smoothies. Some maple syrup or a teaspoon of corn sugar will do.
