Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in Mini Form?!? I'm in trouble!fujimama
I don’t consider myself much of a candy person, unless we’re talking homemade candy, then that’s a different story! But there are a few things that I love and try to avoid making eye contact with when I find myself passing the candy aisle in the grocery store:
Swedish Fish and Pretzel M&Ms. My dear friend Kellie knows my penchant for those perfectly sweet, stick-to-your-teeth little red fish and enabled my addiction with a little glass jar filled with Swedish Fish for my birthday last month. Oy!
Then there’s the Pretzel M&Ms—the combo of sweet chocolate, salty pretzel, and crunchy candy coating just does things to my common sense, and I find that I will open a bag with the intention of just having a couple, and when I look back at the bag moments later, the rest of them have mysteriously vanished. Yeah, I have yet to figure that one out . . . .
So really, the candy aisle doesn’t pose much of a threat to my waistline, and since I usually do my grocery shopping at night after my girls have gone to bed, I usually don’t have to worry about any of my rugrats getting the “gimmies” either.
Unfortunately, a third item has just been added to my “Candy Love List,” and it’s all Kellie’s fault. Yep, that same Swedish Fish enabler recently brought to my attention the fact that there’s a new candy in Candyland: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Minis. Run! Run fast and run while you still can! I’m warning you that once you taste these it’s over for you. The peanut butter to chocolate ratio is perfect, and it’s all too easy to grab a fistful of these little suckers and pop them into your mouth.
So I’ve been thinking I need to find some ways to use these little devils in recipes, so that I can self-thwart my tendency to devour the entire bag by myself. Here are a few ideas I’ve come up with, but please let me know if you have any suggestions!
- Peanut Butter Cup Cookie Pie
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and Chocolate Cheesecake Bars
- Chocolate Chip Muffins (Just replace the chocolate chips with 1 cup of chopped Mini Peanut Butter Cups)
