Making fruit pies from scratch can be pretty daunting. And, to be honest, it does take a little practice to get a picture-perfect pie every time. Luckily, it’s a lot easier to get one that’s plain old delicious, even if you do have to serve it in bowls (all the better for that scoop of melty ice cream!). Fruit tarts, on the other hand can be a great option for beginners since you’re working with less dough and less fruit.
I also love tarts because they are a wonderful way to highlight simple ingredients like tangy yogurt or perfectly ripe summer fruit. As you can see, for this tart I went with the latter, and added only a bit of lemon and sugar to the plump blackberries. And, after a half-hour in the oven, the lovely blackberries reached even greater heights of tastiness —— simple summer eating at it’s best.
