Combine the fun vibe from an ice cream shop with the yummy taste of s’mores in one brilliantly easy treat. This is one recipe you’ll want to bring camping, since the prep is super easy, and little hands can grab cones without them dropping in the dirt. No more sticky marshmallow blobs to contend with either!
Before your trip, simply stuff ice cream cones with s’mores fixings and wrap in foil. Here’s what you’ll need: ice cream cones, a bag of mini marshmallows, chocolate bars broken into pieces, and a roll of tin foil. (I used Hershey’s because to me it’s the classic s’mores chocolate, but use whatever bar you like!)
You can even have your kids help with prep, but make sure to keep an eye on the fixings!
1. Grab a cone and alternate with layers of marshmallows and chocolate bar pieces.
2. Once finished stuffing a cone, break off a piece of tin foil big enough to wrap around the cone. Lay the cone side-down on the foil, and wrap tightly to completely seal.
3. Pack all of your tin foil-wrapped cones in a container or travel box to bring on your camping trip.
4. Fire up the grill or light your campfire, and get ready for some dessert magic! The cones can sit straight on a grill grate, or can be nestled for 1-2 minutes right on the hot coals in a campfire. Turn every 30 seconds or so to keep the cone from burning.
Kids can also spear the front end of the foil and hold the cones over a campfire, just as with marshmallows. Only this time, all they have to do is unwrap (with parental supervision, of course!) and … voila! S’mores!
Want to make s’mores indoors? Preheat your oven to 400 F, and place your foil-wrapped S’mores Cones inside for 5-8 minutes, or just until the marshmallows and chocolate begin to melt.
