Step aside, Pumpkin Spice Latte — there’s a new fall drink in town that we’re all about to become obsessed with. And this one has a spooky Halloween twist.
Behold, the Witch’s Brew Frappuccino, which looks … positively wicked:
According to a Starbucks press release, the Witch’s Brew is made with “a pinch of toad’s breath,” “a dash of bat warts,” and “a sprinkle of lizard scale.”
To clarify (if that just totally turned you off), Starbucks says the “pinch of toad’s breath” is really its blend of orange crème Frappuccino with purple food coloring, and a swirl of chia seeds make up the “bat warts.” It’s then topped off with vanilla whipped cream and a light dusting of “lizard scale” powder (AKA sugar turned green by food coloring).
“We wanted to create a flavor that you might enjoy at a Halloween party,” shared Jennica Robinson, of the Starbucks beverage development team, in the press release. “It gets a little bit of juicy-ness from the orange flavor.”
This isn’t the first “spooky” treat to be unveiled around Halloween time at Starbucks, though. Back in 2014, we were treated to the Franken Frappuccino®, which was followed up the next two years after that by the Frappula Frappuccino®. And of course, who could forget last year’s Zombie Frappuccino®?
“Starbucks loves to celebrate Halloween, and each year our Frappuccino brings something different to the season,” said Robinson. “We started with Frappula, which was inspired by an old-school horror movie. Zombie Frappuccino was like the walking dead, a little ghastly. Witch’s Brew is very fun, vibrant, bubbly, the life of the party.”
If you’re wondering where you can get your hands on one, Starbucks says they’ll be available at select locations throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and select locations in the Caribbean. But you better hurry — they’re only on sale for a limited time, so you’re gonna have to drink all the Witch’s Brew you can handle now.
