Everyone knows what that little sniffle sounds like. The dreadful sound of a cold coming on. Or the flu. Or some type of illness that is going to be passed from your child to your other child to your husband and then finally … you. Being sick is always such a burden. It can feel like a lifetime by the time you schedule an appointment and another lifetime to beat traffic to get to the doctor’s office. All while taking hours off of work.

Luckily everything we could ever need is now available through delivery. With Uber for driving services and Postmates for food delivery, why not bring back house calls? Dr. Renee Dua thought the same thing and created Heal, an app that provides a licensed doctor to your door within two hours. It started in Los Angeles and has expanded to the San Francisco, San Diego, and Orange County areas — perfect for those dealing with traffic. What makes this service even better is that the doctors are available from 8 AM to 8 PM, seven days a week.

As a mom, Dr. Dua created Heal because she wanted to do things that wouldn’t just fulfill her as a doctor, but as a mother too. The idea for the app came to her when she was waiting in the emergency room with her 1-year-old. So it makes a lot of sense that many of the users are moms.

Heal covers non-emergency services, from colds and rashes to strep and sports injuries for both adults and children. You can use the app to get a flu shot, a routine physical, or if you actually get the flu. Of course the doctors can’t handle it all at your home, so they’ll refer you to other medical professionals if further testing is needed.

Let’s talk cost. Heal accepts a handful of major California PPO insurance plans (including Anthem Blue Cross, Cigna, Aetna, United HealthCare, and Blue Shield of CA). If you don’t have a plan that fits, it’s a flat rate of $99 per visit.

It sounds pretty good to us. Would you use it for your family?
