Sadly we reported earlier that champion surfer Andy Irons has passed away at the young age of 32. It’s a tragedy for such a young and talented man and his family. Here are a few things you might not have known about this Surfing legend.
Andy Irons was a long term Hawaiian resident who was raised on the North Shore.
An accomplished surfer, Andy had three world titles , three Quiksilver Pro France, two Rip Curl Pro Search titles and an impressive 19 elite tour victories. On September 3rd 2010 he won the Billabong Pro in Tahiti.
Andy Irons younger brother, Bruce Irons, is also an accomplished surfer who used to compete on the World Championship Tour of Surfing.
Andy married his girlfriend Lyndie Dupuis on November 25, 2007 in Princeville, Kauai.
In addition to having an Andy Irons’ line of shorts produced by Billabong, Irons was also inducted into the Surfing Walk of Fame in 2008.
