Babble Exclusive: Kobe Bryant's Wife Vanessa Talks Beauty, Mom Days, And The Olympic GamesJoanna Mazewski
When it comes to Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa, she makes it clear that she puts her family first before anything else. The hands-on mom was recently spotted cheering on Team USA at the Summer Olympics as she traveled to London with her husband Kobe and the couple’s two daughters, Natalia and Gianna (who by the way looked so cute while they were cheering their dad on at the basketball games!).
Vanessa recently took the time from her busy schedule to talk to Babble about her beauty regime, if she ever has “mom days” and her best advice for packing light while traveling with the family this summer. Check out what she tells us below.
BABBLE: Hi Vanessa! How was your overall experience in London wanting the summer Olympics and cheering on Team USA? What were some trip highlights for you and your daughters?
Vanessa: My girls and I had a great time in London. We were able to see many U.S.A. athletes accomplish their dreams of winning a gold medal. This time my girls will hopefully remember watching their dad win another gold medal with the U.S.A. Basketball team. They were so young when team U.S.A. won gold in Beijing. This year we finally had the opportunity to watch Misty and Kerri win gold! I’m so glad we had this chance because my daughters are starting to have an interest in volleyball and it was definitely a treat to watch them play together. It was awesome!
BABBLE: Do you have any tips for moms who are traveling with their kids this summer? Do you and your family usually pack light and are there any essential must-haves in your suitcase?
Vanessa: My family and I travel a lot, especially during summer. So some tips I can suggest would be to always pack a special designated suitcase with medicine for your family. Ask your family doctor and children’s pediatrician if you can get antibiotics filled for your family in advance. If your requesting medicine for your young children make sure you ask the pharmacy not to mix it so you can use the medicine later if you don’t end up needing it while traveling.
BABBLE: What are some of your “secrets” when it comes to beauty and style? Do you ever have any “mom days” where you just lounge around at home with no make-up on?
Vanessa: I am terrible when it comes to putting on moisturizer or sunscreen. I use non scented dove soap daily. Thankfully I don’t have any wrinkles YET, but according to my dermatologist, my Mexican, Italian and Filipino background should hopefully work in my favor. I don’t really get a chance to have lounge around days at home. I am always with my girls. If I’m not driving one of my daughters to a sport, dance, piano or art class then I’m managing our homes, paying the bills, and fine tuning our newly constructed home that I’ve been working on for the last 2 years.
BABBLE: What are some future projects you are currently working on? What are your thoughts on “celebrity parenting” being big business today (like for example how Jessica Alba is selling diapers with her Honest Company and how other celeb moms such as Heidi Klum are designing crib linens, etc.). Is that something that interests you?
Vanessa: Yes, I would definitely love to do something along those lines. I am a full-time hands on mom. So I haven’t necessarily had an opportunity to pursue the things that I am interested in getting involved with apart from being a mommy and supportive wife. However, I’ve had plenty of family, friends, pediatricians, teachers and fellow moms ask me to write a book on things that I know and love about products, medicine, travel and personal tips.
